A dear friend, eclectic engineer and former colleague, I wrote some time ago a strange and curious mail. I decided therefore to publish a nice excerpt on this blog, to share with visitors to the inherent considerations that may arise from reading!
Dear friend, I take out of curiosity? Where did the name "2 +8"? I made a series of ruminations - both serious and humorous - about its meaning, which are listed here in:
1. Their sum is 10, that number is formed by the two digits 1 and 0 which are the two symbols of binary used in all computers. Also 10 in binary is 2 in decimal, which in turn is the beginning "2 +8".
2. It is the sequence of a number (2) and its cube (8) which could be a series of exponentially growing factor 3:
2 +2 ^ 3 + (2 ^ 3) ^ 3 + ((2 ^ 3) ^ 3 ) ^ 3 + ... a 2 +2 ^ 3 +2 ^ 9 +2 ^ 27 + ... and then 2 +8 +512 +134217728 + ...
or Factor 2:
2 ^ 1 +2 ^ 3 +2 ^ 5 +2 ^ 7 + ... and then 2 +8 +32 +128 + ...
3. In track 2 is "10" and 8 is "1000" that is 2 +8 "1010" and even if we consider the two as the first digit "positional" (ie, leading the number) would "10" + "1010" (To be concatenated as strings) and that is "101010", which in turn may be:
A. The sequence of bits in series: 101,010 is the universal symbol used to indicate the PC serial port (either RS232 or RS422).
B. The binary number 101010 to decimal is "42" or the answer, after seven and a half million years of calculation, the supercomputer Deep Thought (Deep Thought) to "Great Question of Life, the Universe and Everything" as reported in the "Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy" by Douglas Adams:
