Scholarships 2007-2008
ACADEMIC YEAR 2007-2008
For the conditions and deadlines for submission of applications and for the selection of candidates scholarships offered by the Italian government to foreign citizens and Italian citizens living abroad, please contact the Italian diplomatic missions respective territorial jurisdiction.
The scholarships are awarded by the Italian Government under the terms established by Law No 288/55 and subsequent amendments and regulations from the following sources:
bilateral cultural agreements, ratified by the Italian Parliament with law and implementing the protocols that flow from them and, where appropriate, exchanges of notes;
Multilateral Agreements, too ' they are ratified by law when it provides concession of scholarships as part of specific programs;
I - GENERAL PROVISIONS Intergovernmental Agreements with countries with which trade relations are consolidated by a multi-year international practice even in the absence of an agreement ratified by Parliament. In such cases it is possible to grant scholarships only in the absence of standards for the containment of public spending.

FOREIGNERS The scholarships granted by the Italian government to foreign citizens as a contribution toward their studies and research in Italy in order to promote cultural cooperation International and dissemination of knowledge of language, culture and Italian science and will promote the screening of the economic and technological sector of the country in the world. ITALIAN CITIZENS LIVING ABROAD (IRE)
There are special Scholarships for Italians residing permanently in Australia, Argentina, Brazil, Canada, Chile, Colombia, Congo-Brazzaville, Egypt, Eritrea, Ethiopia, Jordan, Mexico, Peru, Syria, United States, South Africa, Tunisia, Uruguay and Venezuela . They can apply for grants IRE Italian citizens and employees, for any reason, the offices of the Italian public administration as a temporary resident abroad and their families. WHERE TO STUDY Scholarships are awarded for study and / or inquiries in the following state institutions or legally recognized:
University, colleges and polytechnics;
Institutes high-level art and music;
Institutes of restoration

C) Specialization. Specializations are excluded from medical disciplines (See Leg. 08.08.1991 No 257).
ITALIAN LANGUAGE AND CULTURE FOR TEACHERS OF ITALIAN: The Italian language and culture courses are reserved for teachers of Italian and foreign university students of Italian, at least in the 3rd year. Regarding the study of Italian language and the teaching of Italian language, the scholarships are awarded for specific courses that are held at the University for Foreigners of Perugia, Siena and Roma Tre or other institution authorized to issue certification of Italian as a foreign language (L2).
NB Applicants for scholarships to attend university and post-graduate - whose curriculum as a mandatory part of the program sequence in a different location from that of the main academic and scientific host institution - are required to specify when the application is submitted in order to enable this Directorate General in due course arrange the transfer of money orders at the counters of the Treasury responsible for Provincial Treasury territory. PERIOD OF USE
To enroll in degree courses at Italian universities, the candidate must have the final secondary school diploma, valid ground for the university.
To gain access to specialized schools and courses to achieve Master's level and second at the Italian universities require a degree corresponding to an Italian degree, to be relevant, and any other documentation from check with the institution of your choice.

IV - REGISTRATION OF CANDIDATES
Pre-registration of candidates for scholars to universities or any other institution of higher education or legally recognized state chosen by them, including the institutions of Higher Education in Art, music and dance must be made through the Representation diplomatic and consular officer responsible for the territory, which occur in the institutions:
the actual conduct of courses and their start and end dates;
the date fixed for submission of candidatures of fellows of the Italian government Recalling that the same pursuant to Presidential Decree 394, 31.8.1999, Art. 46 paragraph 1, were part of the surplus outside the specified quota provided by each site for other students;
original of the study, with accompanying translation in Italian, the text certified by the foreign diplomatic mission or consular post, or by an official translator;
statement of value prepared by the diplomatic mission or consular certificate

Please note the following:
issuing entry visas to scholars, the representations are requested to follow the ministerial circular containing the current provisions and regulations issued by the Centre Visas MAE.p> Please note that the fellows are required to report within 8 days of arrival in Italy, the Foreign Office in the city where police carry out their studies in order to obtain a residence permit. In addition to the documentation that will be required by the Police, the fellow must submit the document certifying the award of the scholarship offered by the Italian Government. That document will be issued by the Fellows, once confirmed by the Office VI DGPCC proposals for grants of joint committees and before the fellow's departure for Italy.
VIII - BUSINESS TRAVEL
The ticket shall be granted only if required by the Protocol of Implementation of the cultural agreement or an exchange of notes for IRE bags if the bag in question is at least 8 months.
Regarding the issue of pre-paid ticket, the Embassy must send at least 30 days before the commencement of the scholarship, the demands of each ticket, with the name of the fellow and the date of departure. The Office DGPCC will provide you with a prepaid ticket issuance date. For the return trip, candidates must contact the Office DGPCC VI that will issue the ticket for the return trip.

For the duration of the scholarship granted by the Italian government, all scholars, foreigners and Italians residing abroad (IRE), are insured by the policy at the Ministry ASSITALIA. The addresses of the Society shall be clearly indicated in the Memorandum of Scholarship.

XI - FEES UNIVERSITY
Exemption from tuition fees is limited to enrollment in degree courses. In the academic years after the exemption is conditional upon the renewal of the grant by this Ministry (DPCM April 9, 2001). To enroll in other courses, whether total or partial exemption from tuition fees is decided by the individual universities under the existing autonomy. Candidates are advised to check beforehand on what the host directly through the university.
XII - RENEWAL
The request for renewal, for foreign citizens and Italian residents abroad (IRE) is considered only in order to allow the continuation or completion of a multi-year course of study (Degree, Specialization, PhD, etc.).. The renewal of the scholarship is granted after checking with the certificates and certificates awarded by universities or institutes to accommodate the normal development of the curriculum.
Fellows who apply to renew the registration for the 2nd year of the degree must have passed at least two tests of 1 year. Renewals are subject to passing all the exams included in the curriculum for the two previous academic years and the current academic year. In these cases, the renewal has priority over new applications.

COURSES OF HIGH ARTISTIC AND MUSICAL: to follow at Institutes of Higher Education in Art, Music and Dance (academies, conservatories, ISIA, etc..), At the Restoration Institute and at the National Film School, which need to access graduating high school.

- A) PhD. Admission for the PhD is governed by regulations issued by each university. It is, therefore, to make contact with each university, including by consulting the relevant websites. - DURATION OF THE BAGWith the exception of short courses of Italian language and culture (1, 2 or 3 months) may be granted only scholarships lasting 3, 6, 9 or 12 months. They can not therefore be accepted proposals for grants showing different times.
- II - REQUIREMENTS may apply for a scholarship, except for attending language courses, students who meet the following requirements:
- 1) Knowledge of Italian language The Italian title is essential and must be certified or confirmed by an interview at the Italian Cultural Institute, or at the Cultural Office of the diplomatic or consular officer responsible for the territory or by the lector of Italian working in the university of the candidate.2) Education Candidates must possess the qualifications required for entry to the institution of your choice. - 3) Age limit
- The age limit to qualify for the scholarship is given in the individual programs of implementation of cultural agreements. Unless expressly agreed, can not be accepted applications for fellows who are over 35 years of age. The above age limit does not apply to applications from teachers of Italian language, provided that effectively pursue activities of language teaching Italian. Except as expressly stated in the executive program of cultural agreements, nothing in the fellowships may be awarded to young people who, at the time of the scholarship itself, are not age
- Given that some institutions set limits to its rules of different age, it is still advisable to check these limits directly with the institutions involved (the National Film School, for example, requires an age not exceeding 27 years). Applications not complying with these requirements shall be considered null and void.

- We recommend that you check with the institution concerned or any other required documents. The diplomatic mission is required to ensure the successful enrollment of candidates.
- V - REGISTRATION OF FELLOWS TO INSTITUTIONS CHOSEN
- The registration itself is performed by the person on his arrival in Italy. Of such registration, the applicant must give timely notice to the DGPCC - Office VI, within 8 days of arrival on the Italian territory, sending a certificate of registration in original.
Please note the following:

- VI - CANCELLATIONS AND TRAVEL

send by priority mail the certificate original registration for the first quarter and within the first month of subsequent quarters the updated certificate of registration; not perceive at the same time other scholarships awarded by other agencies of the Italian State;
not change course, location and period of study without having obtained DGPCC - Office VI the necessary authorization will be issued for serious reasons, otherwise the loss of the benefit of the same bag;
not leave during the running of that, the Italian territory without having submitted a formal request to the DGPCC - Office VI, for particularly serious cases, and having received the permission, on pain of forfeiture of benefit the same bag;
- complying with applicable laws and maintain a course of action that does not involve any prejudice to their country or Italy;
- submit or send to DGPCC - Office VI, a final report on activities during the period of the fellowship, and the certificate examination or examinations;
- to return to the country of origin (except as for EU citizens) at the end of the studies conducted in Italy, in order to make available to the community they belong to the foreground.
